Nola is the Program Coordinator for the Australian Fungicide Resistance Network (AFREN) within the Fungicide Resistance Team at the Centre for Crop and Disease Management (CCDM). With a career grounded in plant pathology, Nola transitioned into molecular plant pathology and agricultural biotechnology, earning her PhD in 2009. Her doctoral research focused on genetic breeding and molecular mapping of crop disease resistance genes. Since CCDM's inception, she has played a key role in investigating genetic resistance in barley, contributing to the Barley Powdery Mildew and Net Blotch programs.
Nola’s experience extends beyond research, including roles in science outreach and citizen science projects. Her achievements include a Curtin University Excellence in Research Team Award for Industry Engagement. In her current role as AFREN Program Coordinator, she combines her expertise with a passion for science extension and education, striving to raise awareness and promote best practices in fungicide resistance management across the agricultural industry.
