Dr Joel Haywood (PhD 2016, Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing) studied the structural basis of new, emerging viruses immunological recognition during his PhD. In 2016 he moved to the School of Molecular Sciences at The University of Western Australia where he held an ARC DECRA Fellowship (2018-2021). In 2022 he moved to Curtin as an ARC Linkage funded Research Fellow at the Centre for Crop and Disease Management. His research interests include protein structure led research into the discovery of novel herbicides and novel modes of action.
