Biography

Cynthia graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2013 and since then she has been working with CCDM in Dr Simon Ellwood’s group. Her main research is finding low or zero yield penalty durable Barley resistant genes to powdery mildew, with the aim of achieveing optimal yield with or without powdery mildew epidemic and application of fungicide. During her eight years at CCDM, her group has mined two important and novel barley genes with these attributes. One of Cynthia's current focuses is dissecting the underling molecular mechanism of the resistance. Cynthia has skills designing, performing and analysing in silicon and wet experiments for genomic, epigenetic, transcription and protein level.
