Callum Verdonk

Research Associate
Biography

Callum has recently finished his PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Western Australia. He has expertise in protein transcription biology from a structural and genetic perspective in agricultural environments.

Callum is working Genomics of Co-infection project and is looking at the pathogenicity of necrotrophic fungi. He will be using his experience in structural and molecular biology to investigate the genetic and molecular impacts of transcription factors associated with effector proteins and their role in wheat diseases. He hopes his work can be used to understand the regulation of disease responses, and this knowledge can be applied to help develop novel antifungal targets and assist breeders in eliminating the impact of fungal pathogens.
